Aluminum sulfate is a strong acid and weak base salt, and its hydrolysis can produce sulfuric acid and aluminum hydroxide. Among them, sulfuric acid can react with calcium hydroxide in cement to form calcium sulfate, a hydrated calcium silicate that has high strength and durability. At the same time, the aluminum ions in aluminum sulfate can react with tricalcium silicate in cement to form aluminum silicate, which further enhances the strength and durability of concrete.

Aluminum sulfate can enhance the density and strength of concrete and improve its waterproof and impermeability properties. During the concrete preparation process, aluminum sulfate chemically reacts with calcium aluminate hydrate in cement to produce swelling substances that fill small gaps in the concrete and increase its density and strength. In addition, aluminum sulfate can also be used to produce accelerators, which can significantly shorten the setting time of concrete and improve engineering efficiency.
