Why should silica fume be densified?

Keywords
Micro silica fume, densified silica fume, concrete, cement

Micro silica powder is a by-product recycled during the processing of non-ferrous metals. Its particles are very fine and its relative density is very small. This results in two phenomena in the specific application process: one is that the relative density is small and the weight is large, which leads to transportation costs very high; secondly, during the use process, due to the specificity of silica fume, it is easy to spill and easily cause secondary pollution.

Densified Silica Fume process solves these two phenomena very well, but at the same time, new phenomena also arise. Through the densified silica fume, the particles become larger, the specificity of the silica fume decreases, the permeability becomes weaker, and the use is limited.

The initial density of the microsilica powder collected by the bag dust collector is only 150-200kg/m3, which costs a lot of money to transport. Therefore, the densified microsilica powder is spherical, and the accumulation specific gravity is from the original bulk microsilica powder to 0.2t/m3 increases to about 0.3 - 0.6t/m3, which can reduce packaging and transportation costs by about 30 - 60%.  At the same time, loading and unloading efficiency has been improved, storage space and land occupation have been reduced, and dust at the production site has been greatly reduced, improving working conditions and the environment.
